Founded by Mr. Choo Kim Min and the late Mr Choo Kit Lin, Besi Asia Engineering Works Sdn Bhd has a humble beginning in Kepayan area.
In the beginning, it was trading under the name of Asia Engineering Works and deal mainly with structural steel fabrication works. In 1976, we moved our factory to 5th mile Jalan Tuaran, Likas Industrial Estate, just half a mile away from the present factory site. After the move, we diversified our product range to manufacturing of Press Steel Water Tanks for Government Water Supply Projects.

We are running on a modern plant located at 5 1/2 mile, Lot 11, SEDCO Industrial Estate. The plant is equipped with up-to-date automatic facilities and testing equipment for steel pipe manufacture. It has an annual output of 24,000 metric tonnes on 8 hours shift. Pipe production ranges from 100mm to 1,900mm nominal diameter.
At present, Besi Asia Engineering Sdn Bhd has expanded into two steel pipe factories.
The main plant is located at Kolombong, Kota Kinabalu while the other plant is located at Inanam, Kota Kinabalu. Manufacturing activities are carried out at both of these plants. Strategically located near the Kota Kinabalu Port to facilitate exports throughout South East Asia, we aim to be a leading exporter in the ASEAN region.
